Making Friends on Holiday and Keeping Connected.
Holidays are the perfect time to meet new people. Away from daily pressures, everyone is more open and relaxed, and shared experiences – from stunning sights to fun journeys – create quick, genuine bonds. But once you’re back home, staying in touch can be hard.
How to make friends while away
• Be approachable: A smile or simple question like “Are you enjoying your trip?” can start a great chat.
• Join group activities: Tours, meals or excursions mean you already have something in common to talk about.
• Show interest: Ask about their life, travels and favourite moments – people love feeling heard.
• Share your stories: Talk about what you love, helping others get to know you better.
• Share updates and photos: Post trip highlights or daily moments so you can still feel part of each other’s lives.
• Plan future meet-ups: Whether visiting each other or travelling together again, organise everything simply.
• Chat anytime: Send messages or leave comments whenever suits you, even across different time zones.
Holiday friendships don’t have to fade when the trip is over. With us you can keep those special connections alive and look forward to making more memories together.

Why is the website named using MFIR/myoddments/colingerrish.wordpress.com
In 2017 my wife and I both retired and decided to move house from Kent and relocate to the sunny south coast of England. Whilst clearing out years of accumulated items it was decided to donate many items to charity and also use a website to sell some of our collectables. As there were numerous oddments available, the name of myoddments was born and the website myoddments.com created. So when our community was formed the website was already available to host it.
The name of MFIR (Make Friends In Retirement) is also used for this site.
It is a personal website colingerrish.wordpress.com so this name is also used.
